It’s not all real estate: Fun facts about the ski and snowboarding season
Even though our business is selling real estate in Lake Tahoe, that doesn’t mean we won’t take breaks for some fun. After all, this is Tahoe – right?
I don’t snowboard, but my boys wanted to get into it. They came to me and asked if they could learn, but I wondered: Where can I even buy a kids snowboard, and how will I know what the heck to buy? So I started calling around to a few shops, and when I called Tahoe Dave’s in Tahoe City, I knew I had found a wonderful shop. I already knew they had a skate shop, so I figured they would know about snowboards. Sure enough, they had a wonderful employee that was very knowledgeable who started helping me right away.
However, it was not all easy, as few things are these days. Due to the limitations on board supplies due to Covid-19, they only had a board for Albert, who is my older son, age 9. So search continued as I called all over Tahoe for a board for my younger son Henry, age 6, and eventually I stumbled onto Arbor Boardhouse, in Truckee. Check out the photo below of my sons posing by the friendly employee that sold us the board. He was helpful and kind to my kids, as many workers in Tahoe are, and it really stood out as a great experience for all of us.
Arbor Boardhouse is definitely a cool shop that I recommend everyone check out, in addition to Tahoe Dave’s. I live locally yet I have never visited until now. It reminds me of the good old Tahoe Days, with a casual laid-back atmosphere full of snowboard culture. They wax boards in the back and have fun, cool art all over the store. They also carry unique snowboards, as well as boots, clothing and skateboards. I cannot wait to stop in over the summer to grab my kids a skateboard.
Their service by far exceeded my expectations on buying a snowboard, and my kids are beyond thrilled to be snowboarding. They are already both wonderful skiers — from chasing their Olympian dad around the mountain, but snowboarding was calling them to do something new. Thank you Arbor Boardhouse and Tahoe Dave’s for your awesome service.
